Follow these simple steps. Ring out the washcloth well if using. It may sound painful but doctors do it gently so baby doesn t get hurt. While cotton swabs are out most experts agree that it s safe to use a washcloth to clean the outside of a child s ears.

Use a cloth or tissue to wipe away any wax that has migrated out of the ear canal. Wet a clean washcloth with lukewarm water. Clean baby ears using a washcloth. Wet the washcloth or cotton ball with warm water.

To clean baby s ears. Instead it will just remove some of the excess wax or dirt sitting on the outside. Gently wipe behind baby s ears and around the outside of each ear. Stubborn earwax is sometimes scraped out with a tool called a curette.

If baby earwax drops and warm washcloths don t work when it comes to baby ear cleaning doctors may opt to use an infant earwax removal tool. Repeat this process for the other ear as well. Wipe behind and around both of your baby s outer ears.
